SLRS has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to interpreting students in Oklahoma, provided a full scholarship for Oklahoma's first Certified Deaf Interpreter, (CDI) Susan Nelson, and assisted Deaf youth in becoming the leaders of tomorrow.

SLRS was started in 1997 by Stephanie Nichols, CI & CT, OK QA 5/5, who is the Executive Director and owner. In the beginning, SLRS was Stephanie's private practice, and in 2000 she incorporated her company. Now, SLRS has grown to be the largest provider of sign language interpreters in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. SLRS provides over 1,000 hours of interpreting services per month, has over 60 contractors, and 6 employees.

SLRS is a proud organizational member of the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
